mouse is a prototype development. It explores the possibilities of how complex, standard-compliant HTML documents can be generated by means of a WebApp even by less technically experienced people.

Motivation

The impetus for the development of maus came from requirements that arose in another i3mainz project. In the project “DiVA - Digital processing of archaeological information”, which was carried out from 2016 to 2017 under the direction of Professor Bruhn, numerous texts enriched with images and a glossary were to be written in HTML in order to insert them into the OpenOLAT teaching platform. The documents were created by students who mostly had little or no knowledge of the markup language HTML. In addition, the students wanted and should work together on the texts, and they should do so from a workplace of their own choosing. From these requirements, the team came up with the idea of covering all needs with their own web app. The result is maus, an app that has since been used in other i3mainz projects.

Activities

Behind the name maus is a decentralized tool for creating and managing digital teaching media and publications. The web app is aimed specifically at users with no previous knowledge of designing digital media, but who repeatedly create media and repeatedly access content (e.g. images, text passages, embedded videos). For this group, maus offers a simple graphic interface in which text and media can be entered.
